Red Headed Stranger

1996 skrev Stephen King tvillingromanerna Desperation och Väktarna. Böckerna har handlingar som är oberoende av varandra, men många av karaktärerna finns med i båda berättelserna. Ända sedan jag läste Desperation för första gången har jag sökt med ljus och lykta efter ett exemplar av Väktarna. Sökandet har varit förgäves, tills nu, då jag började söka efter den engelska titeln och direkt hittade den på CDON (*facepalm*).

Hursomhelst. I bokens början blir en av karaktärerna skjuten och, utan att avslöja för mycket, så ser en av huvudpersonerna den döda kroppen och börjar plötsligt tänka på ett skämt som haft punchlinen: "I don't know about the other two, but the one in the middle looks like Willie Nelson".

Som jag funderade på detta! "Han i mitten ser ut som Willie Nelson", vad kunde det ligga för historia bakom en sådan slutreplik? Så jag googlade och, håll i er nu, här kommer en tvättäkta fredagsfräckis:

"This lady was a big fan of Elvis and to show this she decided to go and get a tattoo on her inner thigh. So she went to the tattoo parlor and had it done. When the guy finished, she looked at it and said "That is not Elvis! It looks more like Roy Orbison without sunglasses! I'm not giving you a penny!"

The tattoo guy tells her he'll make another one on the other thigh and that she'll only have to pay for one. She agreed. When he finished, she said the same thing and refused to pay. The tattoo guy said "You'll gonna have to pay for one of them. How about if I go out and get a total stranger off the street, and if he'll say that one of the tattoos looks like Elvis, you'll have to pay for one of them". Again, the woman agreed.

They got an old man in and asked him who he thought the tattoos looked like. The old man said:
 - I don't know about the other two, but the one in the middle looks like Willie Nelson"
